# How to replace an audio file within a podcast episode

Whatever reason you have for needing to change the audio file uploaded to an episode, Captivate makes it easy and this action can be taken for draft, scheduled and published episodes.

**_Important: if you use any AMIE files on the episode where you’re replacing the audio, you’ll need to re-add those since they’re attached to the original episode audio, and won’t be on the new audio file until re-added._**

**To replace an audio file:**

* Click on the [Episodes](https://my.captivate.fm/dashboard/episodes) tab in your Captivate dashboard.
* Find the episode you want to update, and click the _Edit_ icon next to it.
* In the _Episode Preview_ section click _Replace Audio File._
* Add the new audio file that you want to upload, or select from your most recent upload, _Content Library_, or _Import from Descript_.
* Captivate will automatically upload and process the new audio file.
* Click _Update Episode_ at the bottom of the Edit Podcast page to save changes.

And that's it, your new file has been uploaded and replaced the previous audio file.

**_Note:_** _Your analytics for that episode won't be affected, and your new audio will be published on the various podcast apps the next time they refresh their feed!_
